The arts are in full swing on the mountain side of Maryland.

As Mountain Maryland grows and diversifies as a community, we are becoming a haven for artists and art-lovers of all kinds. With an established and highly successful Arts & Entertainment District in Downtown Cumberland, and a second recently designated Arts & Entertainment District in Downtown Frostburg, visitors to Allegany County can enjoy a wide range of cultural attractions and exciting arts programming.

  • September 11
    The Downtown Cumberland Arts & Entertainment District will host its next Arts Walk of the 2010 season.

  • September 11 - October 8
    The Allegany Arts Council's Saville Gallery will present the 11th Annual Will's Creek Survey, a juried exhibition of contemporary artwork from across the United States.

  • September 14
    Julia Butterfly Hill, environmentalist, poet, writer, educator, speaker and founder of the organization Circle of Life, will speak at Frostburg State University.

  • September 16
    The FSU Cultural Events Series will present a performance by Step Africa!, the first professional dance company in the world dedicated to the tradition of stepping.

  • September 17 & 18
    The 5th Annual Appalachian Festival will take place on the Frostburg State University campus and various locations in Downtown Frostburg.

  • September 18
    Las Vegas entertainer Jennica McCleary will bring her award winning Bette Midler tribute show, entitled Divine Deception, to the Allegany College of Maryland theatre.

  • September 24 & 25
    The Frostburg Center for Creative Writing will present a juried One Act Play Fest at the Palace Theatre and Lyric Theatre.

  • September 24
    Queen City Performing Arts Development will present Sugar Blue, one of the premier blues harmonica players of modern times.

  • October 1
    Windsor Hall will host a special concert by "Gypsy Jazz" musicians Angelo Debarre and Ludovic Beier.

  • October 2
    The Downtown Frostburg Arts & Entertainment District will host its next Arts Walk of the 2010 season.
