Arnold, Dee

Dee considers herself a multi-media artist who likes to explore broad ranges of media like ceramic, oils, acrylics, watercolor painting, stain glass to doll sculpting. She is the third generation of artists on her motherís side of the family. Although, a lot of her training was through Frostburg State University, Allegany College, and Charles Community College, she considers herself mostly a self-taught artist. She has attended various workshops in watercolor and acrylic painting, and doll making throughout the country given by national artisans. Since the early 90's she has enjoyed all aspects of doll making. It appeals to her because you end up with an object which appears to have its own inner life and also the fact that dollmakers need to be experts in many areas such as sculpting, painting, wig making, and costume design, etc.

Dee is a member of the Western Maryland Watercolor Society, Allegany Area Art Alliance, Allegany Arts Council, and Somerset County Art Association. She has participated in numerous Art exhibitions in which she has been honored with awards and special recognitions. Her works have been displayed at Saville Gallery, Gilchrist Gallery, Rocky Gap Gallery, Contemporary Gallery in Hagerstown MD, Waterfront in Annapolis MD, Southern Maryland Gallery, Heritage Days, Western MD Station, and Roper Gallery at Frostburg State University MD.
