CASA of Allegany County

Located in Cumberland Maryland, CASA of Allegany County was founded July 2012, and opened it's doors in July 2013. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA of Allegany County is an independent, court authorized, 501(c)3 non profit organization that works through specially trained and supervised volunteers to promote the welfare of children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse, neglect or abandonment by providing a safety net of support, advocacy and mentorship. CASA trains and supervises volunteers to speak for the best interests of the children in court, to ensure that each child has the opportunity to thrive by receiving needed service and assistance, while helping to move the child towards a safe and permanent home.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, with the common interest in advocating for the best interest of a foster child. If you have 10-15 hours a month to volunteer, are at least 21 years of age, have a clean criminal history, and would like to work with a foster child, please consider being a CASA! While the foster children we work with are from Allegany county, our volunteers are from Mineral County, Garrett County, and Allegany County! Call our office for more information: 301-777-1262.

CASA of Allegany County hosts several fundraisers throughout the year. Out CASA Uncorked wine tasting festival is quickly becoming a local community event favorite with winderies from all over Maryland coming to showcase the best their vineyards have to offer. Join us this year on July 16th at Canal Place to join in all the fun.
