Marta Fiscus studied psychology, theatre and art at Kenyon College, The Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, and Frostburg State University and has been teaching in the arts for 12 years in New York City and in western Maryland. She has focused primarily on photography and printmaking in her own artwork, which deals with human interactions with one another and with the natural world. In her ongoing mixed media work “Family Lepidoptera,” she has combined the old folk art of silhouetting with butterfly specimen collection and taxonomy to tell stories about human relationships and notions of beauty and profanity.
