Louise Garverick has developed a unique approach to collage. Watercolor is often the foundation of many of her works which combine distinctive natural elements with unexpected additions of embroidery stitching, beadwork and appliqué on paper. She frequently uses metallic materials to embellish her compositions.
Louise earned her B.S. in Art Education from Edinboro State College and has done postgraduate work at Kutztown University, Shippensburg University, Wilkes University, University of Connecticut, University of Texas, and Penn State University. In 1992 she was honored with the PA State Elementary Art Educator of the Year Award and in 2007 the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International State Achievement Award. She has studied with Zoltan Szabo and Mimi Shapiro.
In Pennsylvania, Louise has exhibited at the Kauffman Gallery at Shippensburg University, The Bogigian Gallery at Wilson College, The Schuster Art Gallery at Gannon University, The Art Association of Harrisburg, Gallery 30 in Gettysburg, and in juried shows through the Adams County Arts Council. Her work is in private collections.
