Riggs, Shane

Shane Riggs is an award winning writer three decades of professional experience in his craft.

Shane is the author of the Song of the Red Sparrow novel series -- available internationally in bookstores and through online vendors. He has also penned the plays "The Lightbearer," "Confessions from the Ladies Room," and “The Marie Defense" -- all of which have been staged multiple times by varying theatrical organizations across the country.

Shane landed his first paying writing job at the age of 14 and since then has made a steady living in the profession. He has worked as a news anchor, reporter, radio personality, staff writer, news director, talk show host, television production assistant, photojournalist, public relations and marketing writer, correspondent, and news editor. Following his move "back home" to Maryland in 2003, he was the Allegany Arts Council's gallery coordinator for two years and then became the founding managing editor of Allegany Magazine.

The Christmas season tends to be a busy time for Shane as he has lended his vocals to two holiday CDs, co authored two holiday themed books, produced several successful holiday concerts, and even briefly went on tour in 2011 with a very famous brother and sister act during their Christmas concerts in Chicago, Illinois.

Presently, Shane is employed as an adjunct instructor of Developmental English at Allegany College of Maryland. In October of 2012, Shane was asked to join the staff of the Center for Continuing Education at ACM as the community services coordinator. His job duties there -- among other things -- include producing the occasional theatrical or concert show for the college and he has done that including two highly successful Ricky Howsare concerts, Divine Deception: A tribute to Bette Midler, an Evening of One Act Plays, the Voice of Mercy Concert, We've Got Christmas and the Rhett Wolford Art of Magic Show.
