Casey Sundahl originally set out to be a professional, commercial photographer. She studied art at Marshall University and earned her BFA in Photography. Her photographs have been showcased throughout West Virginia, including various galleries in Charleston, Huntington, and Morgantown. While at Marshall, Casey was honored by having one of her photos selected for a juried exhibition in Los Angeles, CA. Now back home in New Creek, WV, Casey owns and operates a small, part- time photography business that specializes in portrait photography, weddings, senior photos, and has been shooting modeling sets for some boutiques.
When not taking portraits, Casey prefers Fine Art Macro Photography, having turned it into her main photographic passion. "By focusing on the smaller details of an object, by enlarging the miniature, we become more intimate with our subject, more aware of what beauty lies within the most seemingly unimportant detail." Her macro photos have been showcased in Frostburg, MD at the Star Gallery, as well as several group exhibitions in New York and New Jersey.
Still learning and dabbling in painting, Casey has been blessed to have had her paintings recently shown at the Frostburg Museum Gallery. She is influenced by color and expressionism. She credits Jackson Pollock and even Van Gogh for creating the works that have stirred up such a passion for painting and creating art within her.
Mrs. Sundahl is married to an amazing writer, and they have a brilliant, adorable son who is soon to be 4. She earned her Master's degree from Frostburg State University, and is currently the Art and Special Education Teacher at the Burlington Center School in Burlington, WV.
"My main influences are Jerry Uelsmann, Robert Frank, Mark Slankard, Rothko, Van Gogh and Pollock."
