In the fall of 2001, the idea for a film series was proposed and through the work of dedicated volunteers, was instituted in the spring of 2003. By creating the film series, the Palace took a role in creating a vibrant downtown Frostburg. The establishment of the film series also addressed the need for a broader selection of films in Allegany County. The film series departs from the mainstream movie industry to show a variety of classic, independent,a nd foreign films, as well as documentaries. Films that, prior to the creation of the Palace's film series, were not viewable on any big screen. The ability to view films at the Palace that challenge cultural assumptions, that stretch expecttions for cinematic techniques, and that fulfill the need for artistic integrity has given rise to a growing film culture in which community members delight in being active viewers and look forward to dissecting each film in an open discussion that takes place after each screening. Become part of this culture by attending a film at Frostburg's Palace Theatre.
