A Taste of Touchstone: Artistry in Appalachia

February 3, 2018 - February 17, 2018

Allegany Arts Council

The Allegany Arts Council has teamed up with Pennsylvania's Touchstone Center for Crafts for an eclectic exhibition of artwork from artists who have studied at the residential art school. The show begins Feb. 3 and concludes Feb. 17 in the Saville Gallery. Displayed artwork includes ceramic, metal, glass and sculpture, among other mediums. Located roughly an hour southeast of Pittsburgh, Touchstone is Pennsylvania's only residential craft school. It was founded in 1972 with a mission to preserve traditional artistic techniques. Today, the facility offers arts education for beginners and experts through classes, workshops, lectures, and demonstrations. Studies include everything from blacksmithing and textiles to painting and photography. The center strives to help artists develop technical and design skills, so they may enrich the lives of others through their work. This event is open to the public and refreshments will be served. Please call (301) 777-2787 or email [email protected] for more information.
