'Everyone Counts' Book Debut

Professor Lynn Bowman is debuting her brand new book, "Everyone Counts. A history of African American enslavement in Allegany County, Maryland" at the Gordon-Roberts House, 218 Washington Street on Saturday, Feb. 24, 1 pm. This book takes a deep dive into Allegany County's antebellum newspapers, land records and personal correspondence to explore the slavery we didn't learn about in high school, slavery on the National Road. The author lets forgotten figures speak their truth. See and handle copies of original letters, photographs and more. Light refreshment provided. An associate professor of English and Speech at Allegany College of Maryland, Lynn Bowman also serves her community as a member of the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture.
