FSU Presents Returning Trumpet Soloist Joe Burgstaller as Part of Summer Music Academy Concert Series

As part of its Summer Music Academy Concert Series, Frostburg State University will once again host world-renowned guest artist Joe Burgstaller on Thursday, July 27, at 7 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU's Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. Burgstaller, a trumpeter, has thrilled audiences throughout the world with his dazzling virtuosity. He tours worldwide as a soloist, as well as a clinician, with his groundbreaking masterclasses for all instruments called "Change Your Mind, Change Your Playing."Burgstaller is a Distinguished Faculty member at the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where he teaches trumpet and chamber music. Formerly with Canadian Brass for eight years and the avant-garde Meridian Arts Ensemble for six years, he was also one of the all-time most popular soloists at Columbia Artists' Community Concerts, performing 60 solo concerts every year. His extensive discography includes solo CDs ("License to Thrill" and "The Virtuoso Trumpet") and three Top-10 Billboard hits. The FSU Summer Music Academy was created with the mission to promote classical music education, and its goal is to develop individual musicianship for string, woodwind, brass and piano instrumentalists in a supportive environment. The academy brings top artists from around the world to the Western Maryland region to inspire local residents and develop interest in music programs in all types of educational systems. Admission is $15 for adults; $10 for students, seniors, veterans and FSU faculty and staff; and free for children 12 and younger. Tickets are available at the door and are cash only.
