FSU to Host High School Honor Band Concert as Part of Weekend Festival

Frostburg State University's Department of Music will host the High School Honor Band Concert on Sunday, March 5, at 3 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU's Performing Arts Center. The Honor Band is made up of select students from schools in the mid-Atlantic region, and the concert is the culmination of the High School Honor Band Festival that will take place on FSU's campus over the course of the weekend.Students will be preparing five pieces for the program: the concert march "Brighton Beach" by William P. Latham; the two-movement "New River Suite" by Jared Spears, which musically describes one of the most beautiful rivers in America; "Rest" by Frank Ticheli, a lyric and moving adaptation of an earlier choral work, "There Will Be Rest"; "Incidental Suite" by Claude T. Smith, a staple of the concert band repertoire for many years; and the vibrant and contemporary piece "Urban Dances" by Erik Morales.
