LIVE! at StarScape: Danu

March 2, 2018

CES at Frostburg State University

The traditional Irish musicians of Danu will present a LIVE! at StarScape club performance on Friday, March 12 in the FSU Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall.

The 7:30 p.m. event features table and bar service and a menu of appetizers and desserts. With a buoyant style described by The Washington Post as "a vibrant mix of virtuosity, energy and empathy," Danu has emerged as one of the world's foremost Irish music ensembles. Hailing from Counties Waterford, Cork, Dublin and Donegal, the spirited ensemble has performed to enthusiastic audiences around the globe for more than two decades, earning praise for its virtuosic use of traditional instruments such as flute, tin whistle, fiddle, button accordion and bouzouki, accompanied by exquisite vocals.

Immediately following the performance, CES joins forces with Frostburg State University's own WFWM-FM to present the Offstage Series With WFWM, when station director Chuck Dicken joins the artists onstage for a lively interactive discussion with the audience.

To celebrate Irish-American Heritage month, the Lewis J. Ort Library highlights the Great Hunger that affected Ireland from 1845-1852 and the contributions these new immigrants made to the United States in a display from the library's collections.

Performance tickets are $22 for adults and $19.80 for youth under 17. Member and group discount rates are also available. Tickets may be ordered online by visiting or by calling 1-866-849-9237 or 301-687-3137. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This engagement is sponsored by the Lewis J. Ort Library in observation of Irish-American Heritage Month. The Cultural Events Series is supported in part by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council. On the web at CES is sponsored in part by the City of Frostburg.
