Join pianist Don Stephens' Concert of Beauty on Saturday, May 13 at 7 PM.Musician and missionary Don Stephens began his musical journey at age five when he showed an unusual interest in the piano. By the time he was thirteen he was playing for weddings, church services, social functions, and on weekends with a popular local rock and roll band in his hometown of Westernport, MD. Graduating from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1975 he assumed several music and youth ministry positions, first at LaVale United Methodist Church in LaVale, MD, and then at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Florence, SC. From there he began making public appearances on the concert stage, as well as playing professionally in musical theatre, various restaurants, and for awhile was the house pianist for a Regional Medical Center! He has released four recordings of his music, one of which was recorded in Sarajevo, Bosnia, where he lived and served with Youth With a Mission for ten years. Also to his credit are the arranging and orchestrating of two stage shows, "Song of the Shepherd" and "Judah Ben Hur", which have been performed off Broadway, in the State University Theatre in Singapore, and various churches and venues in the US. Mr. Stephens' repertoire draws heavily from popular, folk, and sacred music, towards the goal of presenting his audience with musical delight and beauty that will uplift the heart. There is no admission fee, although a free-will offering will be taken to support Mr. Stephens' missionary work throughout the world. The Passport Cafe will be open in the lobby for beverages and theatre snacks.
