Allegany County Tourism Launches “Music Peaks: The Soundtrack of Mountain Maryland”
CUMBERLAND, MD (October 29, 2025) — Against the scenic backdrop of the Allegheny Mountains, Allegany County Tourism has launched Music Peaks: The Soundtrack of Mountain Maryland—a new destination marketing initiative celebrating the region’s thriving live music scene and its deep Appalachian roots.
Music Peaks connects musicians, venues, and music lovers through curated projects, storytelling, and resources—ensuring the continued growth of a uniquely Appalachian musical tradition that thrives across genres and generations.
“Music Peaks is more than a campaign—it’s a movement that highlights how music shapes our identity, connects our communities, and welcomes visitors into an experience that can only happen here in Mountain Maryland,” said Ashli Workman, Director of Tourism.
A Year-Round Live Music Destination
From iconic festivals like DelFest, one of the nation’s premier roots music gatherings, to the growing Tri-State Wing-Off and Music Festival with its country music flair, Allegany County offers unforgettable live music experiences all year long. Intimate venues such as Gallery Stage, Loft 129, and The Deep End host frequent performances, while outdoor favorites like the Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series, Sunday in the Park, and Friday After Five bring audiences together in scenic mountain settings.
Adding to the mix, Frostburg State University’s Cultural Events Series (CES) brings national and international artists to local stages, while historic theaters, breweries, galleries, and cultural centers across the county provide authentic spaces that embody the spirit of Mountain Maryland.
“We’re fortunate to host major festivals and national talent, but what truly sets Allegany County apart is the consistency of live music,” added Workman. “Every weekend, our events calendar is filled with live performances that reflect the depth and diversity of our scene—and that’s what inspired us to create and celebrate this campaign.”
A Campaign with Reach
Designed to reach audiences across the Mid-Atlantic, Music Peaks positions Mountain Maryland as a must-visit destination for live music. The campaign features:
- Live Music Calendar: A one-stop hub for performances, festivals, and music-centric events across the county.
- Curated Spotify Playlists: Creative Echoes, Wilderness Echoes, and Roots Echoes capture the sounds of the mountains, rivers, and communities tied to Appalachian traditions and storytelling.
- Arts & Culture Spotlights: Ongoing stories highlighting local musicians, venues, and the downtown experiences of Cumberland, Frostburg, and the surrounding mountain region.
- Music Industry Resources: A growing resource section for musicians, venue owners, and event organizers, offering tools to launch and grow local music experiences—including a searchable venue directory and connections to state and regional partners such as the Allegany Arts Council.
