Allegany County, Maryland, Takes Home Multiple "Best Of Awards" from Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine
13th Annual Best of the Blue Ridge Awards features local winners

FEBRUARY 1, 2023 - CUMBERLAND, MD – Five local businesses, attractions, and events took home Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine's recently announced ‘Best of Awards’ in its February 2023 issue.

This is Blue Ridge Outdoors’ thirteenth annual ‘Best of Awards,’ which consisted of an online nomination then polling process in October of 2022. This year, Blue Ridge Outdoors received 200,000 votes in 50 categories, from best local outdoor experiences, guides and outfitters to best local dining spots and events. Allegany County, Maryland, was well represented in multiple categories.

1st Place Winner:

  • Best Coffee Shop: Basecamp Coffee (Cumberland, MD)

Runner-Up Awards:

  • Best Biking Trail: The Great Allegheny Passage
  • Best Campground:  Rocky Gap State Park (Flintstone, MD)
  • Best ADA Outdoor Experience:  C&O Canal National Historical Park
  • Best Music Festival: DelFest (Cumberland, MD)


“We are so proud of this year’s award winners, especially Basecamp Coffee Shop, who took home 'Best Coffee Shop’ in the Blue Ridge,” said Ashli Workman, Director of Tourism for Allegany County. “Any time our region, businesses, or area attractions are recognized on a national and competitive level, it is a positive for our destination’s awareness.”
