The 5th Annual “Shop Small, Win Big” Contest Returns
Allegany County Tourism is rewarding those who choose to shop local this holiday season
November 25, 2024 - CUMBERLAND, MD - Allegany County Tourism will be giving away $1,000 in cash prizes during the 5th Annual “Shop Small, Win Big” contest, which kicks off on November 29 and lasts through December 19, 2024.
Shoppers who purchase in-person or online, when applicable, from independently owned, participating small businesses in Allegany County, Maryland, during the contest period can submit their shopping receipts as entries that will qualify them to win weekly drawings for $50 Visa gift cards as well as the grand prize drawing for a $550 Visa gift card.
“Consumer spending significantly increases during the holiday season, and it is important to keep local businesses at the forefront during the holidays,” says Ashli Workman, Director for Allegany County Tourism. “Our Main Street and local business communities are the heartbeat of Mountain Maryland. Our annual shop small campaign is designed to bring awareness that where you choose to shop this holiday season matters.”
To enter the contest, consumers must submit a separate entry form for each qualifying purchase. There is no minimum purchase required, and there is no limit on the number of entries a person can submit.
Drawings for the $50 Visa gift cards will take place on December 5, 12 and 19, and the grand prize drawing for the $550 Visa gift card will take place on December 20, 2024.
“Our goal is to reward those who shop locally with gift cards so that they can continue to reinvest those dollars back into the community, throughout the holiday season,” added Workman.
Allegany County, MD, is home to two Main Street Maryland communities - Frostburg and Cumberland. Both cities feature a lengthy list of one-of-a-kind retailers. On the heels of the recently unveiled $17.2 million redeveloped Baltimore Street in downtown Cumberland, MD, the holiday season is an optimal opportunity to support the many recently opened and longstanding business communities.
