Allegany County, the Mountain Side of Maryland, is excited to welcome back the Levitt Amp Cumberland Music Series, hosted by the Allegany Arts Council, in downtown Cumberland’s Canal Place this summer, with events taking place every Thursday at 7:00 p.m., June 6 through August 8, 2024. The 2024 season is the second season in a series of three, made possible by the Levitt AMP Grant Award. All performances are family-friendly, free to the public, and all are invited to attend.

The series is supported in part by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, which partners with towns and cities across America to activate underused public spaces through the power of free live music, creating welcoming, inclusive destinations. Presenting a broad array of music genres and cultural programming, Levitt venues and concert sites are community anchors where families, friends, and neighbors of all ages and backgrounds come together. This year’s Levitt AMP Cumberland Series performances include everything from Neo-folk, jam and jazz to Peruvian and world music, heartland rock and roots, and more.

Enjoy the beautiful and mountainous setting of the Canal Place Festival Grounds. Located on the Potomac River at the intersection of the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal Towpath bike trails, it is the heart of the city of Cumberland, making for the perfect backdrop of a central gathering place for community and the arts. Or enjoy the venue swap on July 3, where the show will take place at the amphitheater at the Hoffman Park in Frostburg.

Because the series is intended to bring communities together, each concert is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets, food, and beverages, and attendees are also encouraged to patron restaurants and businesses in downtown Cumberland while they enjoy the music. New this year, there will food trucks and beer and wine sales on the festival grounds. Proceeds from these sales will be utilized to support the sustainability of the series. There will also be a Kid Zone for kids crafts and activities.

Parking will be available in the Canal Place parking lot, located in front of the train depot building, or street parking may be found in and around downtown Cumberland. Paid garage spaces are available in the City Center Parking Garage.
