Rocky Gap State Park's Settlers Path Trail passes through woodlands dominated by hardwoods and pine. Portions of the trail feature short, steeper inclines that may feel more challenging despite the trail’s short length. The path is mostly well-maintained dirt, with occasional rocky spots and root crossings. Hikers will enjoy the shaded forest, small spring crossings, and quiet woodland scenery. This trail is ideal for hikers who want a brief hike with some ups and downs. For a longer hike or loop, Settlers Path Trail can be combined with Rocky Trail or the Lakeside Loop Trail, offering additional forest scenery and varied terrain.

The trail can also be accessed from Hickory Loop trail head.
