Ashli Workman Director of Tourism
Ashli Workman has over 17 years of marketing and tourism experience. In 2017, Ashli was appointed as Director of Tourism for Allegany County, where she combined her love for Mountain Maryland and her tourism and destination marketing expertise to lead the promotion of Allegany County, the Mountain Side of Maryland. Under her leadership, the destination reemerged into the marketplace through a rebranding initiative, relaunched a new website – www.mdmountainside.com, garnered national media coverage in placements such as Southern Living, Travel Channel, Men’s Journal, and MSN Travel, and has been the recipient of multiple statewide awards including ‘Best New Website’ (2019), ‘Best Cooperative Partnership’ (2020), and ‘Leveraging Partnership Award’ (2021) awards. Ashli is a 2008 graduate of Frostburg State University, and lives in Allegany County with her husband and two young children.
Mark Bowling Visitor Services Manager
Mark grew up in Frostburg and was quick to develop a passion for the outdoors, exploring Allegany County and the region in his youth. He graduated from Frostburg State University and started his career in the outdoor industry, guiding rock climbing, canyoneering, and hiking in southeast Alaska, Joshua Tree National Park, and Moab, Utah. He also has experience climbing abroad and he worked as a climbing guide in New Zealand where he helped establish operational procedures and developed, marketed, and guided multi-day excursions. Mark is a former EMT, Wilderness First Responder, and American Mountain Guide certified instructor. He's also a skier, paddler, and cyclist, and acquired other certifications and trainings in order to improve the chances of keeping his family & friends protected in the outdoors. He is a member of the American Alpine Club, Access Fund, and local organizations including the Western Maryland Grotto and Western Maryland Climbing Coalition. Mark will soon be volunteering his time with the Mountain Maryland Search & Rescue team and is excited to support other outdoor enthusiasts.
