Allegany County is Well Represented in the "Best Of Awards" from Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine
14th Annual Best of the Blue Ridge Awards features local winners.
FEBRUARY 1, 2024 - CUMBERLAND, MD – Eleven local Allegany County businesses, attractions, and experiences took home awards, which included one first place winner, Wheelzup Adventures in Cumberland, MD, in Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine’s recently announced ‘Best of Awards’ in its February 2024 issue.
This is Blue Ridge Outdoors’ fourteenth annual ‘Best of Awards,’ which consisted of an online nomination polling process in October of 2023 and then online voting for best-of-the-best. Allegany County, MD, was well represented with 15 businesses, events, and destination experiences being initially nominated. Blue Ridge Outdoors received over 200,000 votes in 50 categories, and when the dust settled, the following Allegany County based locations won awards and will be featured in the 2024 February issue of Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine.

Runner-up Best Winery: Charis Winery
Runner-up Best Bike Race: 3M Bike Challenge
Runner-up Best Coffee Shop: Basecamp Coffee
Runner-up Best Beer/Wine/Spirits Trail: Mountain Maryland Tap and Pour Tour
Runner-up Best Disc Golf Course: Locust Post Disc Golf
Runner-up Best ADA Outdoor Experience: C&O Canal National Historic Park
“We are so proud of this year’s award winners, especially Wheelzup Adventures, who took home ‘Best Bike Shop’ in the Blue Ridge,” said Ashli Workman, Director of Tourism for Allegany County. “We know how hard our entrepreneurs work to deliver service, goods, and experiences to our community and visitors, and we're proud to see them recognized on a national level, especially when there is an element of competition.”
